This tool allows you to measure vertically on photos. This tool is currently only usable with the iMapper Racer 3 and Racer 3+.
Please note that to use it, a certain number of scans must have been performed to ensure complete calibration.
<aside> 💡
The maximum error is estimated at 1% relative to the measured value (note that this assumes proper use of the tool, meaning that the measurement points are in the same vertical plane as the point where the laser hits the surface). For example, if the measurement is 3cm above the horizontal at a distance of 3m, i.e., a 1% error, there may be up to an additional 1% error in the measurement. This error is maximum if the vertical measurement is taken in one half (upper or lower) of the image (e.g., for a window), but it is zero if the vertical measurement is symmetrical with respect to the horizontal midline of the image (e.g., measuring the height of a wall).

1/ Click on the Vertical Ruler icon located at the top right of the photo.
2/ Aim with your cursor at the area to be measured on the point cloud.
3/ You can now measure the height of the window. (e.g., 360cm - 260cm = 100cm)
Left figure: A door height should be measured when the laser hits the wall (left ruler) or a closed door, not when the laser passes through the adjacent room (right ruler).
Middle figure: The edges of a piece of furniture are valid reference points only if they are in the same plane as the surface hit by the laser, for example, if the back of the furniture is visible and flush with the wall hit by the laser (two left rulers) or if the laser hits the front face of the furniture (right ruler).
Right figure: Measurements are valid on a vertical wall that is not facing the mapper (right and left walls), but they are not valid on a sloped surface (top of the image).
